Level 2 in Disengagement and Physical Intervention Skills (SIA Approved)
The Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry (Top Up) course is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked qualifications requirements.
If you have already done the training before the new licence-linked requirements, and your licence is in need of renewal, we strongly recommend getting this training done and out of the way as soon as possible.
Don’t leave it till the last minute and then be out of work as we have witnessed some do!
PLEASE NOTE: Learners must hold a First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate which is valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.

What you'll learn in this course:
- Dealing with children and young people
- Counter terrorism training
- Understand physical interventions and the legal/professional implications of their use
- Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
- Be able to use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others
- Be able to use non-pain related standing holding and escorting techniques
- Understand good practice to follow after physical interventions
The new qualification course comprises the following Two mandatory units:
Assessed by a practical test and a written True/False test which is set by the relevant awarding body:
- Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
- Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors
Assessed by a 10-question multiple-choice examination which is set by the awarding body and marked by the tutor. The new Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors unit of assessment and workbook have been developed to cover the following subjects within the security sector.
